There are different types of green cards to immigrate into the United States. The one issued for “extraordinary ability” is among the rarest and most coveted. In fact, it’s known colloquially as a “genius green card,” as generally the ones who get them are those who prove to have extraordinary skills in key areas such as the sciences, arts, business, education, or sports. Each year, they are awarded very sparingly to immigrants who can clearly demonstrate that they are the best of the best in their field.
The application to obtain the official endorsement of the “extraordinary abilities” of Milena Origgi, also known as Mylena Vocal Coach, got the green light in 2019 and it took two years, also due to the pandemic, to get the official issuing of the green card in 2021. One statistic turns out to be extremely interesting. In fact, according to the official USCIS report, there were 148,411 green card applications submitted in 2019, but only 614 of this type were approved!
This is another milestone established by Milena, as she was not only the first Italian-born Vocal Coach to be officially recognized as “the best of the best” in the field of Vocal Coaching, but she was also the first to achieve this without any third-party sponsorship, as usually happens. Mylena Vocal Coach’s file was managed by her consultant, Damiano Calza, who explains how difficult it was to sort through the huge amount of documentation available in order to demonstrate Milena’s “extraordinary abilities” to the authorities. At the end of the process, the file submitted included over 1,000 pages of arguments, weighing over 9 pounds! It takes almost two days just to read the scientific publications, newspaper articles and letters of praise submitted by some of the world’s leading corporations. Damiano was also impressed that many clients referred to her as a “Voice Guru” and the fact that Milena was already an internationally renowned Vocal Coach, with testimonials from clients, workshops and retreats all over the world, particularly from major financial centers such as New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
Milena’s extraordinary abilities became apparent with the introduction of the Inborn Voice method at the end of the 1990s. Before then, professional voice training focused only on the technical aspect and did not consider the emotional aspect at all. This created a series of voices that were all the same and stripped actors, singers and managers of their expressiveness. Today, Inborn Voice is the only vocal coaching method capable of reconnecting voice and emotions, empowering people to express themselves during a conversation, a meeting, a keynote or even while acting for the big screen. Milena was also among the first coaches to address “personal branding,” elevating individuality above ability and is still highly sought after today by those who want to bring something of their own to the world. Milena describes her work as bringing people back to their natural way of communicating, the way they were born (hence the name: in-born-voice).
Since then word of mouth has taken Milena from Milan (Italy) to London (UK) and now to Boston (US). She plans to open her next studio as early as 2021 in New York, and then continue with Los Angeles and Miami. Milena’s international reputation is also linked to the fact that she has been delivering her professional services through online classes for almost 12 years, impressing CEOs, executives and actors from all over the world with her skills.
Even the best universities in the world have recognized her unique skills, awarding her the role of Topic Expert for Communications Skills, Personal Development and MBA courses, highlighting how voice and communication skills are indispensable elements of an agile, modern career. Now that Milena’s Green Card has finally been issued, she will be able to begin her new career in the United States, bringing new knowledge and innovation to the field of professional speech coaching, a field that has been stuck in ideas that are over 200 years old.
