Google can find an answer to just about any topic. Artificial intelligence can explain just about anything, sometimes to the point of being mind-boggling. But there are some things you’ll never find on these platforms, whether it’s a video, a blog, or advice on social media. You’ll also never find a true professional who’ll reveal all the secrets of their craft to you in just a few minutes, for free.

There’s something worth saying, because it seems that few people understand it: the most important things in life can’t be “downloaded” or “found” on the Internet or social media.

The world is certainly constantly evolving. Technology and knowledge are increasingly within our reach. You can search for anything on Google, ask artificial intelligence anything, and watch thousands of informative videos, all in half a day. And I certainly don’t mean to say that’s wrong. I’m here to help you realize that this is just theory, one part of the whole. For more and more people, this limitation seems to be doing far more harm than good.

You cannot download the learning process

There’s a reason why every great figure in the world, every person who has ever truly achieved success on their own, has a history of failures behind them. Success came about precisely because of those failures.

You can’t find on the internet that moment when everything falls apart and you’re forced to start over from scratch. You can’t watch or read about the feeling of banging your head against a wall, over and over again, until you finally understand where you were going wrong. You can’t learn from a digital device the patience needed to achieve something real.

Trying to avoid obstacles through a quick fix, a shortcut, a trick, or a “5-minute tip” is truly foolish. But that’s human nature, and marketing knows it all too well. That’s why it tries to sell you exactly these things as if they were the cure-all for the world. Yet skipping a step makes you lose sight of the very essence of what you’re trying to achieve. Even if you end up somewhere, you’ll almost certainly have no idea where you are and, more importantly, you won’t know how to stay there.

What you find online is almost always obvious

I’d like to be frank about an issue that few professionals are willing to address openly.

What circulates on social media, advices, tips, and viral techniques, are in almost every case, one of three things: outdated, overly simplified, or simply false.

The internet naturally rewards what follows the rules of algorithms, that is, human stupidity. It favors what’s easy to consume, not what reflects the reality of things. A complex, nuanced idea, like this post, doesn’t gain traction and will never go viral. A “shortcut,” a little trick presented as “did you ever think that…,” does. That’s why the content that reaches you unsolicited is almost always stuff that doesn’t really work. Sometimes, it’s even content that causes real harm: it reinforces bad habits, is based on flawed foundations, and makes the journey back to the right path twice as long and twice as difficult.

What you can learn online about skills like soft communication skills is, at best, 1% of what really matters. Everything else is really just filler, background noise: outdated notions, recycled nonsense, or outright fabrications passed off as expert advice.
