Participating in a TEDx event is always a special experience, but the 2025 edition of TEDx Courmayeur brings with it a particular energy. The theme, “New Roots,” speaks of connections and transformations, of what anchors us and what propels us toward the future. It is precisely in this space suspended between identity and change that Mylena Vocal Coach, an internationally recognized voice for her unique ability to bring out the authentic essence of each person, will take the stage. The themes of identity and voice are central to the experience of defining one’s personal brand according to the Inborn Voice method.
Milena Origgi, aka Mylena Vocal Coach, will bring to the stage not only her more than thirty years of experience offering coaching to entrepreneurs, top managers, and prominent figures on the international scene, but also a profound vision: the voice as an inner root, capable of nourishing every choice, every gesture, every relationship. The roots she will talk about are not limited to memory or tradition, but are intertwined with breath, energy, and awareness. It will be a journey within oneself, where transformation is not imposed from the outside, but sprouts from the soul.
The audience will experience a rare moment: discovering that the voice is not only a tool for communication, but also the invisible thread that connects who we have been and who we can become. In a context such as TEDx, where ideas and perspectives come together to create new connections, Mylena’s talk will be an invitation to cultivate strong and flexible inner roots, capable of withstanding adversity while expanding toward new horizons.

Now it was supposed to start! Perfect. That’s just right!
[Music]
Good evening, everyone! It’s a pleasure to meet you, and I hope you enjoy the entire event—not just my talk! Tonight, I’ll be speaking about “Identity and the Voice: Energy, Frequency, and Vibration.”
Let me start by drawing inspiration from the mountains that surround us. The mountains give us peaks, valleys, and forests that stir deep emotions within us. And really, deep emotions are just frequencies, energy. I always remember the mountains because of the echo phenomenon. Do you know what I mean? I used to play with echoes as a kid, as a teen, and I still do.
It’s a thrill for me, because when you send out a sound, especially your own voice, it bounces between the rocky walls and comes back transformed. It fills the valley—can you picture it? Echoes are amazing! The phenomenon of an echo, looking forward, is really all about resonance, because it isn’t just a sound bouncing off the mountains, it’s a quantum resonance, a quantum mirror.
And the source—now and always— is the voice. The voice is the source; it isn’t just a sound traveling outward. Okay? I want to share something important with you. Let’s look at this little person and their voice, their vibrations. Many cultures, old and new, recognize that the power of the voice is only unlocked when your head bows toward your heart; otherwise, you’re not expressing any of your essence. And wouldn’t you know, your heart is exactly halfway up.
The voice is the most powerful tool we have to ground ourselves and to lift ourselves up. If we’re not grounded, we can’t rise. As Katia mentioned earlier, I’ve devoted my entire life to this, and I’ll keep doing it—because it’s never enough. One of my favorite subjects is “Identity and the Voice.” Why? Because, as you’ve seen, I travel the world with this. Did you see the imprint we created earlier? That’s our identity! After 30 years of listening to people’s voices, to me, hearing a person’s voice is like getting to know their past, their present, and their future. It might sound strange to you—but it really isn’t.
And when two identities and their frequencies meet, our voices turn into a bridge—one able to connect and bond, internally. Let me say that again—internally. Why? Because if you aren’t connected on the inside, your voice is less than just a sound. It doesn’t carry across space and time.
Ever think about people you’ve only met once, who became lifelong friends? Or people who stayed with you in a relationship forever, or chose you in the workplace? Or even more powerfully—the voice of someone who’s no longer here. When you hear it, your heart beats faster, you feel their presence, and space and time fall away. Why? Because when two connected particles erase the distance of space and time— it’s incredible. That’s quantum entanglement. Voice triggers this phenomenon. It’s not just a memory; it’s a living feeling. Alive!
Over the years, I’ve had so much fun proving, confirming, and, above all, repeating that we shouldn’t reduce the voice to simply a tool for passing along information.
Let me show you what I mean. The voice is not a technical instrument to be simplified, stripped down, or reduced. I’ve always been known for being a revolutionary, a pioneer, someone who breaks down preconceived ideas. And I’m doing it here in Courmayeur too. Why? Because terms like “tone of voice” are so overused, and need to change. Look at this chart: when we talk about “tone of voice,” we shrink the quantum potential of this magical, mystical, mysterious tool that defies limits. So for me? The word “tone” doesn’t do it justice.
Next, we have “color.” Same thing: check out the chart again—linear, boxed-in. I’d say, in English, it’s sharp—angular, and so, automatically, lacking. Even “voice color” doesn’t capture the power of this tool. Then there’s “volume of the voice.” Okay, this one’s fun. Look at the chart! Sure, it rises, but it’s still linear, almost lifeless, to me. And since some of you might be interested in using your voice professionally or for relationships or other reasons—when clients come to me, they say “I want more volume, mine is too weak, no one can hear me, my voice is so tiny.” Or, “Oh no, my voice is always breaking.” So many try to push their voice further and end up damaging their vocal cords. Along comes acid reflux. Because we start focusing on volume with the mind, automatically, we lose connection with the ear—so volume isn’t enough either.
Next, “voice timbre.” This term is so overused! I work with many voice actors and performers—“I want the timbre of…” Now, let me ask you: if I try copying someone else’s timbre—again, a limited framework—what will I lose? The first word up there—what is it? Identity! To have someone else’s timbre? No—that’s not enough; it’s unfair to your own voice.
And “pause”—I got rid of that one ages ago. Another funny one. People come to me—and this is more than 30 years’ experience talking—and say, “The pause in the book is five seconds,” “The pause is fifteen,” “Oh gosh, now my anxiety’s spiking. The pause is seven minutes and thirty seconds.” “How long is this pause supposed to be?” Where does thinking about the pause come from? Up here, in your head. And what’s your mind doing? It’s disconnecting from your true self; the message doesn’t come through anymore, and you stop being a good communicator. Pauses must honor our own identity.
The voice is far more complex. So, instead of the earlier schematic, we have this line. It’s still somewhat limiting, but at least it’s softer. But in reality, it’s much more complex, and no screen can yet decode or truly understand what my voice is doing right now, for each of you. AI experts realize this, too. They’re always reaching out to me, because if nothing else, without this depth, artificial voice is robotic—no emotion, no message, just emptiness. And when it’s empty, that’s all we receive.
So, even without music, it doesn’t matter—because I carry it inside me. The voice is a quantum instrument, and I want to take you on a journey to show how, right here, there’s a red dot, but I could keep spinning, dancing across the whole theater, because it’s a quantum instrument with incredible range, with frequencies powerful enough to transmit what? Emotions. The most important thing in our lives—emotions! Without them, what’s the point of living? Where does passion drive us? Why does someone climb a mountain, or walk for miles? For passion. And there’s a saying I’d like to leave you with.
If you limit yourself to concepts that can be measured, like the ones we covered, you’ll never reach your own essence—and others won’t find yours, either. So many people ask me, “Is this really my voice? I don’t like it—I don’t even recognize it.” If essence is missing, identity is missing!
Now let’s take it even further. The vibrations of the voice are meant to resonate with the heart. More and more research—including in quantum physics—shows that cells move, return frequencies, vibrations. The same is true for our internal organs, and yes—the spirit, whether you like it or not.
I’m a huge fan of Chinese medicine, of ancient Eastern culture. Maybe you didn’t know this, but I want to share it today: in that culture, they say that expressing a sound—certain sounds—are connected to particular organs in our body, and their resonance reveals the health of those organs.
To prove this, I once met a professor at one of the world’s most famous universities, in Boston, where I live. He shook my hand and said: “Milena, you have an incredible gift and good fortune. Which is? Your voice. In our research, we’ve discovered that those near the end of life stop communicating, stop speaking, stop using their voice.” I thanked him, and now we collaborate on research projects.
With that reflection, let me add what I love most. Maybe you know—I love to travel the world and meet indigenous peoples, weaving their frequencies into my own, and then sharing those with others. One of my favorite peoples are the Māori. I had so much fun with them! Some know them for football, but most of you have probably seen their famous haka—an intense dance and chant, with strong facial expressions and even the use of their tongue. The Māori tradition, from the start, is about driving out demons, negative energy. And, funnily enough, during my travels, I went from Australia—where everything is dangerous—to New Zealand, which I discovered is a “safe zone”; one of the only places in the world without predators or venomous snakes. It’s one of the safest countries out there. Amazing, right? It actually makes sense.
Now, let me ask you—even though you can’t answer—I’ll leave this for you to think about. How do you perceive your voice? I had to narrow it down to two broad categories, or I’d go on too long. First, your voice may be shy, hesitant, or even childlike. Many people find themselves in this situation. The kind of resonance we talked about just doesn’t kick in, causing frustration and dissatisfaction. “No one listens to me,” “No one cares about what I say,” “No one values my words.” And then there’s the opposite. This one’s especially important, because whether you have it or give it, you should know what you’re dealing with, since we’ve been talking about frequencies, vibrations, cells, organs, and more. A dominating, aggressive, or shrill voice—like the “volume” I mentioned earlier. Yelling at all costs just to be heard. What comes back? Often, a resonance in opposition. Mics don’t like that—because this kind of energy repels, creating dissonance and discord, if not worse.
But I always like a happy ending. What could your voice become?
It can become this: calm, resonant, and aware—let’s not use this word lightly.
That resonance empowers it, enriches it with new frequencies and vibrations; even the volume grows. Some may not believe it, but it does! The volume rises, the presence grows—everything intensifies. You feel it deep in your gut; it’s yours, and finally, you recognize it. So, communication becomes like the echo I spoke of earlier.
If resonance is good, we’ll get good results. If resonance is limited and weak, it can’t renew us. So, how do we find our roots? That’s today’s TED Talk theme. Everyone asks me: “How?” You absolutely must clear, recalibrate, because—watch how the color changes in this figure, how strong roots grow.
The voice is the highest human expression of energy, frequency, and vibration. Once realigned, that’s the work you have to do! It’s so important—it’s not just here or here! It helps us ground ourselves, grow, and connect with others.
The future is, was, and always will be beyond me—in voice, communication, message, passion, pathos, in those subtle, immeasurable but overwhelming frequencies. Companies don’t reward just individual excellence anymore—they need interpersonal communication. So many people tell me, “I’m in HR—what do I do?” Or, “I’m being recruited, what should I do?” Because knowing how to work together is vital. I’ll say it again—work together. When we’re tired, working together is even better. That’s how you build strong roots, tightly connected, able to support each other and help each other soar. Every idea I’ve ever had only became reality because of this.
Now I’m finished, and I want to leave you with a quote from Nikola Tesla: “If you want to understand the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.” And then the phrase I love most, one I wrote myself: “The mind lies—the voice never lies.”
